Virginia Ann Johnson, Duluth, was born on June 16, 1949. Ginny found peace and comfort after a brave fight on October 5, 2014.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Bjarne Johnson, brother Larry Johnson, and infant daughter, Lori Ann Backstrom.

Ginny leaves behind her loving children, Tracy Thurber (Ernie) and Brian Backstrom (Kari), her adored grandchildren Breanna and Austin Backstrom and Caitlyn and Henry Thurber, her amazing sisters Sally Nelson, Kathleen Johnson and sister-in-law Marlene Johnson, many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins, and so many dear, dear friends.

Ginny will be remembered for making the world a more beautiful place as she felt at peace with gardens and pulling weeds wherever she saw them. Ginny loved to travel, spend time with the people she loved, help others, laugh, and anyone who knew her knows that her cooking was out of this world. Ginny loved many four-legged animals and they looked forward to visiting her and getting treats. Ginny had a kind soul and a big heart that has touched so many. She will be dearly missed.

Services will be at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais on Saturday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m.
