Violence Prevention Center to community— it’s your turn

The Violence Prevention Center is inviting residents of Cook County—parents, singles, elders, youth—to participate in Phase Three of the center’s community needs assessment. It’s up to you to share your ideas of what the community needs to positively impact the lives of residents and how to provide services for those affected by violence. You are a vital part of this process!

In Phase One, the center developed and implemented an evaluation sheet for clients of Violence Prevention Center. In Phase Two, the Violence Prevention Center interviewed 25-30 organizations and community agencies. One of the interviewers, Judy Siegle, said, “We received very good information and among many of the suggestions that were voiced was need for stronger prevention efforts.” Phase Three involves community conversations that will evaluate the services provided by VPC and address unmet needs. Siegle said, “We hope you can attend one of the three sessions offered in November.”

Siegle added, “Our intention is to use the information we gather from all three phases to determine how we can best ensure Cook County is a safe and healthy place to live.”

All are welcome but you must register to participate! A light meal and childcare will be provided.

Please call VPC at 218-387-1262 to register and get details.

Community conversations will take place at:

. Thursday, November 1, 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Birch Grove School in Tofte.

. Wednesday November 7, 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Co-Operation Station in Grand Marais

. Thursday, November 15, 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland
