The annual Lutsen Trailbreakers Vintage snowmobile event was once again a great success!

On Saturday, February 11, snowmobilers lined up their machines at Cascade Lodge. Then, they headed out for a 20-mile ride through the Cascade State Park on US forest land trails maintained by the Lutsen Trailbreakers snowmobile club.

Prior to the ride, voting is held to select the best vintage snowmobile and best vintage clothing.

Attendees and participants voted for Shannon Sweeny’s 1974 Harley Davidson as their favorite sled.

Steve Hahn, dressed in vintage Arctic Cat gear, won; some said because he even had socks to match! One vote went to the brown UPS duds. We know who you are, and we do love that vintage suit!

The best break-down story wins the traveling trophy, The Hammer of Thor–yes, an actual hammer. This year it was won by the Davies family.

When it came to the ride, three of their five sleds overheated and didn’t make the first hill. Old machines, like some of its riders, don’t like it too hot, and this Saturday, it was a balmy 45+ degrees! Once the machines cooled down, they made it back with a good story and a trophy awaiting them. More than ever, the Trailbreakers’ Vintage Event was a success.
