The Cook County Boys’ basketball team traveled to play the South Ridge Panthers on Thursday, Decembers 21 and came home with a victory.
But it wasn’t easy.
In a game where neither team could pull away, the Vikings won in overtime on a last second shot.
The final score was 83-80. No stats were available for the game.
With the win the Vikings record is now 3-2 on the year and 2-0 in the Polar League Conference. South Ridge’s record fell to 2-5.
Cook County has seven players on the varsity this year, three juniors, Trusen Gordon, Will Ramberg, and Dyami Blackwell, three sophomores, Adam Dorr, Jordan Porter, and Pete Sutton, and one freshman, Caide Northrup.
On Thursday, December 28 the boys played Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in Ely in a holiday tournament. Both teams score about 63 points per game and their records are the same, so, at least on paper, it should have been a good game.
On Friday, January 5, the boys will play the Two Harbors Agates at home at 4:45 p.m. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
