Several boys and one girl qualified to run in the Section meet based on their finishes at Section 7A- Sub-Section North track meet held May 25 at Mesabi East High School.
The top six in each event qualified for the Section meet.
Ryan Christiansen, 12th grade, won the 100 meters with a time of 11.92. MaCoy Fairbanks, 8th grade, finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 46.50., a PR.
Keean Selin, 12th grade, placed sixth in the 1,600 meters at 5:23.4.
Tristan Surbaugh placed fourth in the 3,200 with a PR time of 11:05.31.
The boys’ 4×800 meter relay, consisting of Keean Selin, Brayden Schmidt, Grant Oberg, and Tristan Surbaugh, placed third at 9:34.46.
In the boys’ 4×200 meter relay Cook County placed fourth with a time of 1:39.59. Running on the relay MaCoy Fairbanks, Talon DeBoer, Ryan Christiansen, and Kaleb Berka.
The 4×100 meter relay team of Ben Rex, MaCoy Fairbanks, Kaleb Berka, and Ryan Christiansen placed third with a time of 48.21.
Lexi Surbaugh was the lone girl to qualify for the Section meet. Lexi placed fifth in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:58.92.
