Vikings sink Mariners



The Cook County girls’ varsity basketball team took the floor against North Shore rival Silver Bay on Tuesday, December 20, and came away with a 63-40 victory.

Once again senior forward Katie Peck led the team in scoring. Peck nailed five three-point baskets on her way to making 23 points. Senior guard Makenzie Fairbanks also played a strong game, finishing with 20 points, making two long shots from behind the three-point line. Other Vikings to score baskets were Molly Quello, who had ten points, Amery Oberg four, and Mataya Fairbanks had two points in the game.

The game was played in Silver Bay and with the win the Vikings’ record is 1-1.

On Thursday, December 22 the Vikings traveled to Ely to face the Timberwolves. They return to Ely on December 27 to play in a holiday tournament. To start the new year, the Vikings face the Floodwood Polar Bears at home on Friday, January 6, with the varsity taking the floor at 6:30 p.m. Go Vikings!
