On Monday, October 19, the Cook County High School girls’ volleyball team traveled to Two Harbors to face the Agates, coming away with their first win of the season.
The Vikings are now 1-2 on the year.
Cook County High School took three straight games from the Agates.
None of the games were close as the Vikings won 25-14, 25-10, and 25-11, to complete a three game sweep in the best of five game match.
Paisley Smith led the team in kills with eight. Morgan Starkey finished with seven; Charlet Waver six, Katie Peck four, Rhonnie Poyirier three, Kamryn Johnson three, Molly LaVigne three, and Sadie Wilson had two kills.
Katie Peck and Charlet Waver each had four ace serves, with Morgan Starkey contributing three, Molly LaVigne two and Paisley Smith one.
Paisley Smith finished with three blocks at the net while Sadie Wilson led the team with 21 digs. Both Starkey and Waver finished with 13 digs and Kamryn John had ten digs.
Molly LaVigne finished with 26 assists while no one else had more than two.
All in all, it was a great day of volleyball for the Vikings. Up next is a visit by Wrenshall to Cook County on Tuesday, October 27, which will be followed by a Monday, November 2, home game against Proctor. Both games will start at 6:30 p.m. and while fans won’t be allowed to attend the contests, the games will be broadcast on WTIP or through Zoom.
