The Cook County girls’ volleyball team fell to the Barnum Bombers three games to one on Thursday, September 22 in a match played at home in the Pam Taylor gymnasium.

Both teams played even throughout the first game, with Barnum eeking out a 25-23 win.

The Vikings fell 25-19 in the second game before coming back to take game three 25-17. However, the Bombers regrouped and powered past the Vikings 25-16 in the best out of five series.

Senior Katie Peck led the Vikings with six kills, one block and 11 digs. Hard serving Anna Helmerson recorded two aces in the contest and Makenzie Fairbanks had ten assists.

Cook County is now 4-4 on the year and 3-3 in league play. The Vikings have wins over Two Harbors, Kelly (Silver Bay), Wrenshall and McGregor.

The Vikings traveled to Cook, Minnesota to play the North Woods Grizzlies on Tuesday, September 27.
