Ethan Tate pitched four innings of no-hit ball against the Carlton-Wrenshall Raptors and Ethan Tate came in and didn’t allow the Raptors to get a hit in his inning of pitching as the Vikings forced the ten-run rule in their 14-1 victory in a game played at Chub Lake.
Wasting no time, the Vikings put up six runs in the first and eight in the second, scoring all the runs they would need to win.
Ethan gave up five walks while striking out nine. Myers struck out two and walked one.
The Vikings had ten hits in 23 at bats. J Shannon was two for four with two RBIS. Kole Anderson was two for two with one RBI. Amos Falter had one hit and one RBI while Hunter Gomez had one hit and two RBI’s. Hunter Rex was one for two with two RBI’s. Landon Sheils had one hit and two RBI’s. Cade Smith and Ethan Tate each had one hit.
Boys lose to Esko
The boys’ baseball team finally had their home opener on May 2 against Esko, about a month later than normal. With little or no ability to practice outside in a baseball field due to the snow and inclement weather, the kids are way behind most teams who have a had at least some chances to find a playable field to practice on.
After a scoreless first inning Esko brought a run across the plate to take a 1-0 lead into the third. The Vikings scored one run, but Esko countered with nine. The Eskimos would add 11 more runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to take a 22-1 victory.
Hunter Rex had the lone hit for the Vikings. He also walked. The Vikings received four walks and struck out eight times.
The Vikings had seven errors while Esko didn’t commit any errors.
Kole Anderson started on the mound for the Vikings. Kole pitched three innings going up six hits and ten runs. Amos Falter came in relief and gave up five runs in less than inning. Benelli Myers threw one inning allowing four hits and six runs and Hunter Gomez pitched the fifth inning and gave up one run on one hit. Hunter struck out two batters.
