The Cook County High School football team traveled to Superior, Wisconsin on Friday, September 16 to play the Frederic Vikings in a non-conference game played on a neutral field and came away with a 22-12 loss.
“We had many chances to score but did not finish a few drives and made many mental mistakes and penalties,” said Head Coach Mitch Dorr. “It was one of those nights when the better team lost.”
The CCHS Vikings led 12-8 at halftime with Ethan Sporn scoring both touchdowns on pass receptions from Josh Prom. Frederic managed to take a 14-12 lead at the end of the third period and they tacked on one more touchdown and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to take the win.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the CCHS Vikings drove the ball to Frederic’s two-yard line and failed to score.
Taking over at its two-yard line, Frederic promptly marched the ball 98 yards and punched the ball into the CCHS Vikings’ end zone to score the back-breaking touchdown and take the game.
Sophomore quarterback Josh Prom passed for two touchdowns and was 12-19 for 177 yards through the air. He also rushed 15 times and picked up 85 yards on the ground.
