Last Friday the Cook County Viking football team made the long trip to Ogilvie, Minnesota to face the Ogilvie Lions in what looked to be a good match-up.

And it was.

After a nice drive the Vikings got on the board. Sophomore running back Peter Warren found pay dirt on a four-yard run. He came right back and ran in the two-point conversion.

Good defense held the Lions scoreless and the Vikings led 8-0 after the first period of play.

Early in the second quarter sophomore quarterback Kale Boomer found Dylan Quaife with a pass that covered 44 yards for a touchdown. The extra-point was blocked and the Vikings were up 14-0.

Was a rout on?

No. Ogilvie scored two touchdowns of its own in the second quarter. One came on a one-yard run and the second on an eight-yard pass. Both extra point tries were good and the teams went into halftime 14 all.

Although the Vikings played tough football in the second half Ogilvie was a little better. During a back-and-fourth third quarter, only Ogilvie found the end zone. The Lions scored a touchdown on a five-yard pass and the two-point conversion was good. The Vikings went into the fourth quarter trailing 22-14.

Despite some nice offensive plays the Vikings were unable to mount another scoring drive. Ogilvie tallied one more touchdown on a 31-yard run and their two-point pass play was also good, giving the Lions a 30-14 win over a spirited Viking team.

The Vikings played Chisholm this Wednesday, October 20, for their last regular season game. So far the team is 3-4 on the year.
