Vikings lose to Chisholm in play-offs

Ouch!

Leading 4-0 through five innings, and 4-2 through six, all the Vikings had to do to win the game was keep the Chisholm BlueStreak’s from scoring more than three runs in their last at bats. Unfortunately, the Bluestreaks put three runs on the board and when it was the Vikings’ turn to bat, they went three and out and fell 5-4 in a heartbreaking loss.

The Section 7A semi-final baseball game was held in Proctor on Thursday, June 3.

Jacob Dorr took the mound for the Vikings and pitched five shutout innings. However, Jacob gave up two runs in the sixth on two hits. For the game, he struck out eight and walked three.

Tate Crawford came in relief and pitched one inning, allowing three runs on two hits. Tate was credited with the loss.

Noah Sundquist was Chisholm’s starter. He pitched four and a third innings, giving up three runs on two hits and not walking anyone. Noah was relieved by Jude Sundquist, who was credited with the win. Jude threw two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits.

With the score knotted at four Ben Wegner singled on a 1-1 count to drive in what turned out to be the winning run.

The Vikings ended with three hits, one by Riley Tarver, Kole Anderson and Jacob Dorr. Patrick Pierre collected three walks and scored one run. Jacob Dorr, Paul Door and Ben Obinger all crossed the plate for the Vikings to put points on the scoreboard. Tate Crawford had the lone RBI for the team.

Sam Flemming led Chisholm batters by going 2-3 at the plate.

The Vikings pushed two runs across the plate in the third and two more in the sixth.

Jacob Dorr ended with 99 pitches.

Cook County collected seven walks in the game to three for Chisholm. The Vikings ended with three errors to none for the Bluestreaks, who advanced in the play-offs while the Vikings’ season ended.
