All right that headline was too hard to resist.

But the 7-1 CCHS football team’s first game in the Section 7A playoffs that was played on a chilly Tuesday, October 24 night went the way it was expected to go over the 1-7 Littlefork Big Falls Vikings.

By the end of the first quarter, the game was essentially over with the CCHS Vikes leading 32-0.

With the Vikings up 8-0 early, they forced Littlefork into a punt that traveled three yards out of bounds. Ethan Sporn took the handoff from quarterback Josh Prom and ran down the right sideline untouched for 37 yards to the end zone. Dillon Sjogren was untouched as he ran for the two-point conversion.

The CCHS Vikings’ defense yielded few yards and two first downs in the first period. Meanwhile, still in the first quarter, Prom was freed up on a beautiful block from Jack Haussner and ran in from 9 yards, and then carried for the two-point conversion to make it 24-0.

Late in the first quarter Sjogren ran in for a touchdown from 4 yards out, and Sporn carried for the two-point conversion to make it 32-0.

Jack Haussner intercepted a ball to start the second quarter, and the Vikings took over at the 50-yard line. Andrew Miller, now playing quarterback, picked up 18 yards on a nifty run and Prom, now playing halfback, carried the ball 32 yards for a score. Colton Furlong rushed for the two-point conversion to make it 40-0.

The Vikings averaged three offensive plays for each of their first five touchdowns.

A few minutes into the second quarter and freshman Cade Northrup was the first young player sent into the game. Cade played linebacker.

Adam Dorr came in to quarterback and immediately hit Mike Burton with a 23-yard pass to bring the ball to the Littlefork 2-yard line. Colton Furlong carried the ball in for a touchdown and Sjogren ran for the two-point conversion. The Vikings were now up 48-0.

Colton Furlong intercepted the Littlefork quarterback on the next series, and the Vikings took over at their 10-yard line. Two plays later, Furlong took the ball around the end and raced 90 yards for a touchdown and Sjogren ran in for the two-point conversion.

The Vikings led 56-0 at the half.

Midway through the third period, Adam Dorr hit Jordan Porter with a 7-yard touchdown. Cade Northrup ran for the two-point conversion to boost the Vikings’ lead to 64-0.

Freshman defensive back Aram Falter made a nice interception late in the third period to stop a Littlefork drive and give the Vikings back the ball. Now in at tailback, Mason McKeever rushed for some nice gains before taking the ball on a 36-yard dash to paydirt in the fourth period to end the Vikings’ scoring for the night.

The Vikings’ young players held on to the shutout, and the team won 70-0.

With seven assisted tackles and six solo tackles, Keenan Hingos was named Defensive Player of the Game.

The Vikings get a second home game against the winner of the Silver Bay/Mountain Iron-Buhl game. MIB took that contest 32-13 over the Mariners. The Vikings beat MIB 16-8 at MIB, so this should be a good match-up. The game will be played on Saturday, October 28 on Lyle Anderson field at 2 p.m. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
