Esko comes to town

The Viking’s volleyball team opened their home play on September 1 at home with a 3-0 loss to mighty Esko, a 3A school. And while the final scores weren’t all that close, the games were exciting with a lot of long rallies before a point was scored.

Still as competitive as the points were the Vikings fell 16-25, 13-25 and 17-25.

Vikings beat Silver Bay

The Vikings traveled down the shore to face the Silver Bay Mariners on Tuesday, September 6. Head Coach Marlene Zimmer said the girls won their first game, lost the next two, won their fourth game and prevailed 16-14 in the last tiebreaker. “The girls needed that win,” Zimmer said.

No stats were available for this game but will be included in the next paper.

Overall, the Vikings have been playing good volleyball, talking on the court, digging the ball, setting the ball and playing a good solid game at the net. Against Esko it was taller players that decided the match.
