The Cook County High School girls’ volleyball team ended its year in third place in the Polar League with a conference record of 9-2 and sporting a 14-5 overall record. Carlton at 9-1, finished second to unbeaten Esko.

Several Vikings were among the top players in year-end statistics.

Taylor Ryden led the league in digs with a 3.7 game average and was 7th in serving with 94.5 percent of her serves inbounds. Ali Iverson was 12th and Abbey Sutton 14th in service percentage.

Anna Carman and Theresa Morrin finished third and fourth in the conference with 3.5 and 3.1 digs per game, while Abbey Sutton was 10th and Ali Iverson 15th in that category.

Only four players were listed for set-assists, and the Vikings didn’t have any players on that leader board.

The Vikings faced the Cromwell Cardinals at home Wednesday, Oct. 24 in a Section 7A play-off game. The Vikings lost the rematch against the scrappy Cardinals, but not without some long volleys and exciting plays. The loss brought the Viking season to an end with a 14-6 record.
