The Cook County High School boys’ baseball traveled to Esko on Tuesday, May 24 and they were defeated 14-0 in a game that ended after five innings because of the ten-run rule.
Esko put up three runs in the first, six runs in the third and five in the fourth to run away with the game.
Former Viking Noah Furcht led Esko hitters with two hits and three RBIs.
The Vikings were held to three hits, one a double by Hunter Gomez in the first inning. Kole Anderson and Paul Dorr also each had a hit in the game. Paul hit a triple in the top of the fourth but was out trying for home on a hard-hit ball by Hunter Gomez. The ball off of Hunter’s bat went to the third baseman who threw Hunter out at first. The first baseman relayed the ball to the catcher and Paul was tagged out.
Jacob Dorr took the loss for the Vikings. Jacob gave up nine hits, nine runs, and three walks in three innings, striking out one. Isaac Sandstrom relieved Jacob and gave up two hits, five runs and five bases on balls in two-thirds of an inning. Ethan Tate came in for one-third of an inning and allowed one hit but no runs.
Marciulionis took the win for Esko.
Esko batters racked up 12 hits and walked eight times. The Vikings had one error and Esko didn’t have any errors.
