The Vikings’ boys’ basketball team ended its playoff run with an 85-28 loss to Northwoods in a game played last Thursday, March 10. With the win Northwoods upped its record to 18-4 and moved on in the Section 7A play-offs. The Vikings ended their season with five wins and 17 losses.
After the game Viking Head Coach Andy Feddema summed up the game this way “It was a tough last game for us tonight. Give a lot of credit to North Woods, they are a very good team, and they do a lot of things well. Best of luck to them as they continue their playoff run.
“On our end, Paul Dorr led us with 14 points, Rohan Rude had eight, Recko Helmerson-Skildum had two points and four rebounds, Jacob Dorr had two points and three assists, Denali Blackwell had two points, Derek Smith added four assists.
“I would like to thank our departing seniors, Jacob Dorr and Isaac Sandstrom. They have given a ton of time and effort not only to the basketball program over the years, but in other athletics and the school community as a whole. We wish them the best as they finish their high school careers at Cook County and begin the next chapter of their lives. Also, a special thank you to Paul Dorr, who also played his last basketball game as a Viking. Much like Jacob and Isaac, Paul has given a ton to the athletic programs here, as well as the school community. Best wishes to Paul as he transitions to southern Minnesota to be with his family.”
Two seniors off of this team, Isaac Sandstrom and Jacob Dorr, never missed one practice or a game in four years. That’s dedication and must be noted.
