Vikings earn conference athletic and academic honors

Iverson named 1st team All Conference

Ali Iverson played volleyball with passion and skill all season, and for her fine play she has been selected to the Polar League’s first team All Conference team.

The senior front line player was a force at the net, played tough in the backcourt and was one of the team’s best servers.

Iverson led the 14-6 Vikings to a third place finish in the conference and was near the top of the league in most statistics. Iverson finished 8th in kills, 5th in aces served, 19th in digs and 17th in serving percentage.

Taylor Ryden also had a strong season on the court and was selected to the second All Conference team. In conference play Ryden finished 4th in digs and 11th in serving percentage.

Garnering Honorable Mention for her fine allaround play was Theresa Morrin. Morrin finished 7th in the conference in digs and came on to finish her senior year as a true leader on the court.

Two other players also gained top honors. Katie VanderHeiden and Rachel Weiben were both named Academic All-State.

Coach Pam Taylor said she was proud of her entire team, which earned All-State Silver Team honors for having a combined grade point average of 3.7 out of 4.0.

“Overall we had a good season,” said Taylor. “We started out a little slow but picked up our play. I wish we could have played a little better in our last match, but overall I was pleased with our season.”
