The Cook County Vikings baseball team has improved throughout the year, and is now ranked 5th out of nine teams in the Polar League as they head into the playoffs.
Leading the way is senior Dylan Quaife. Quaife ranks 3rd in conference batting with an average of .426. He ranks 5th in RBI’s with 14 in 14 games, 2nd in triples behind teammate Michael Sjogren who leads the conference with three, 11th in stolen bases with seven and is in 3rd with an earned run average (ERA) of 2.28 as a pitcher. He is also 11th in stolen bases with 7 steals.
Other Vikings having a great year at the plate include Kale Boomer, who is 8th with a .371 batting average. Thomas Anderson is 12th with a .345 batting average. Sjogren is at .326 and Colin Everson is .311 to lead the Vikings to a second overall place in the conference with a team batting average of .310. Colin Everson is 12th in the conference with 9 RBI’s and Joe Borud is close behind with 8 RBI’s.
Sjogren is 4th in the conference with 14 stolen bases in 13 games and Everson has 7 thefts to his credit. Sjogren also is on the conference leader board for pitching with a 4.05 ERA.
