Vikings do well at Two Harbors Invitational

Senior hurdler, dash runner Jack Haussner took first place in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.22 at the Two Harbors Invitational track meet held Tuesday, April 23.

The track meet was actually held at Esko because Two Harbors’ track was being upgraded.

Haussner placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.83 and he took second in the long jump with a leap of 17-10.

The boys’ 4×400 meter relay placed 7th in 4:02.63 and placed 6th in the 4×800 meter relay in 9:47.61.

Sophomore Kevin Viren placed third in the 3200- meter run with a nice early season time of 11:12.

Senior Will Surbaugh took fourth place in the 1600-meter run, crossing the line in 4:48.86. Trent Spry finished 26th place in 6:24.84 and TJ Surbaugh was 27th in 6:27.42.

Keegan Morrison finished 11th in the 800-meter run in 2:32.14 and Trent Spry placed 21st in 2:49.55.

Tanner DeBoer crossed the line in 63.9 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place 15th in a crowded field. Ben Rex placed 26th in 67.31 and Haddon Taylor was 32nd in 1:22.48.

 

 

Girls

In a field of 35 runners, ninth-grader Anna Hay placed 9th in the 100-meters with a time of 14:45. Ellen Callender, a junior, placed 25th in 16:46.

Freshman Molly LaVigne was only one second behind the winner in the 200- meters, placing 6th with a fine time of 29:66. Payton Dobin, a junior placed 16th with a time of 31.32.

Senior Sophie Eliasen finished 12th in the 400-meters with a time of 69:51. Anna Hay placed 14th in 69:78.

Claire LaVigne, a senior, placed 10th in the 800-meter run in 2:46.95 and eighth-grader Kylie Viren was 32nd in 3:34.67.

In the shot put sophomore Hailey Smith placed 20th with a throw of 24 feet 2 inches. Annie Lynch placed 38th with a shot put of 12 feet 6 inches in her first track meet ever. Hailey took 12th in the discus with a great throw of 73 feet 10 inches.

Kylie Viren placed 26th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 7:17.46 and freshman Cecelia Chmelik took 31st with a time of 7:34.82.

Junior Robin Henrikson placed 14th in the 300-meter hurdles in 60.92 and Saira Smith, a sophomore, was 26th in 76.27 with teammate Aurora Schelmeske, a junior, crossing the line in 76.36.

The girls’ 4×100 meter relay team was 13th in 64.46; the 4×200 meter relay team finished 6th in 2:01.38; the 4×400 meter relay placed 6th in 4:39.84 and the girls’ 4×800 meter relay team placed 7th in 11:51.74.
