While it was cold and windy outside, the volleyball action in the Pam Taylor gymnasium was heating up fast for the CCHS Vikings last Tuesday, October 27.
The Vikings played a strong game across the board, picking up balls before they hit the floor, blocking at the net, passing and setting the ball well to their front line, serving well and when it was time, they made some critical kills to keep the action exciting.
When it was over, and it didn’t take too long to end the match, the Vikings won 3-0 in a best of five game series. The Vikings swept the Wrens by the scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-16.
Leading the way for Cook County was Katie Peck with seven kills and six set assists. Katie was named MaxPrep player of the game. Molly LaVigne had three kills and 20 set assists and Morgan Starkey finished with 15 digs, five kills and three assists.
Other Vikings who made outstanding contributions to the win included Paisley Smith, who finished with eight kills, six aces, two blocks, and three digs. Charlet Waver ended with five kills and ten digs. Emmalli Meyers ended her night with one kill, one ace serve, and three digs. Sadie Wilson had 15 digs. Kamryn Johnson had five digs, and Raeanne Silence one dig.
Next up for the Vikings is a home game against the always strong Proctor team on November 2. On November 12, Lakeview Christian will come to CCHS for what should be an exciting game.
Head Coach Mariene Zimmer’s team is now two-two on the season. Go Vikings!
