Following a close, tough loss to the Ely Timberwolves the Viking girls returned to their winning ways by defeating the Northwoods Grizzlies 75-59 in a game played on Friday, March 5.
With the win, the Vikings have now won eight of their last nine games.
Once again Ariana Poyirier led the way with 25 points. Katie Peck, whose been coming on strong lately, netted 18 points. MacKenzie Fairbanks has had a great game, putting in 12 points while Kamryn Johnson finished with nine, Rhonnie Poyirier seven and Anna Hay two.
“The girls played with great intensity and effort,” said Head Coach Kelly Hawsen. “They were scrappy on the floor and played solid team basketball.
“All of the girls played a vital role and they played like every possession mattered. It was a great win for the girls tonight.”
The Viking girls will finish the regular season with a home game against Moose Lake/ Willow River on March 12. That game will begin at 4:45 p.m. Section playoffs begin March 15.
