Lashinski got all of the ball and the point for the Vikings.

For the second time in three years, the CCHS girls’ volleyball team traveled to Esko and beat the mighty Eskimos on their home court.

It was a big win for the defending Section 7A champion Vikings who came in with a 1-1 record. Esko was 3-1 on the season and is always tough to beat at home. The Vikings rebounded after being swept by the Marshall Hilltoppers in their first game of the season to beat a talented Barnum team, but Esko, a double A school, is usually a much bigger hurdle to get over.

The Vikings won the first game 25-10, lost 18-25 in the second and then won the third 25-22. The fourth game was a nail biter and went to extra points to determine the winner. Esko won 28-26 to set up the fifth and deciding game, which the Vikings prevailed 15-6 to take the win.

Meredith Sutton had 34 kills to lead the Vikings against the 2-1 Eskimos. Abby Prom totaled 37 set assists and Alyssa Lashinski 10 kills in the contest. Raina Ryden had an outstanding night serving, with 25 serve attempts, which, as head coach, Pam Taylor said, “is a whole set.”
