Viking volleyball makes short work of McGregor

Quick and merciful.

The Vikings made short work of the McGregor Mercs on Thursday, October 4 in a game played at home in the Pam Taylor gymnasium.

A group of seniors led the Vikings to a three-game sweep 25-9, 25-14, and 25-8.

Sophie Eliasen finished with seven kills, and four ace serves.

Alyssa Fenstad Lashinki, back from missing a week of games due to illness, contributed seven kills and 10 digs. Bianca Zimmer finished with 10 set assists and Reilly Wahlers had two ace blocks and three ace serves.

McGregor’s Andrea Bohn had six digs, Brooklyn Alt four kills and Hailey Maas five ace blocks to lead the Mercs.

The Vikings’ overall record is 9-8, but more importantly, the team is 7-2 in conference play.

Vikings play Cromwell-Wright

With the regular season winding down the Vikings traveled to face the 15-2 Cromwell-Wright Cardinals on Tuesday, October 9.

The Vikings came out hot and won the first game 25-14. Cromwell came back and won the next three games 25-18, 25-19, 25-12.

Alyssa Fenstad Lashinski led the Vikings with 13 kills. Bianca Zimmer finished with 12 set assists.

Shaily Hakamaki led Cromwell with nine kills and seven digs.

The Vikings played Lakeview Christian at home on Thursday, (Oct. 11) after the paper was put to bed, then will travel to play the conference-leading Carlton Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 16 for the last game of the season before playoffs start.
