Viking girls’ track team does well in first meet

The Viking girls’ track team traveled to Barnum on April 20 to participate in their first meet of the year.

Teams competing against each other were Cook County, Barnum, and Carlton.

Running the dashes for the Vikings was Molly LaVigne. Molly placed second in the 400-meters (71.41), fifth in the 200- meters (31.6), and third in the 100-meter dash (14.28).

Anna Hay placed third in the 800 meters (2:48:72).

In the weight events Hailey Smith took second place in the shot put with a throw of 26’6.5” and second in the discus with a throw of 65’7”.

Olya Wright placed fourth in the 1,600 meters (6:21.7) and second in the 300-meter hurdles (1:05:.95).

Malin Anderson placed sixth in the 1600 meters just one second (6:22.8) behind Wright in a mad dash to the finish line.

Cook County placed first in the 4×200 meter relay (2:27.4), first in the 4x 800-meter relay (12:02.43) and took second and third in the 4×100 meter relay and second in the 4×400 meter relay.

The girls’ names were listed on the relays so it’s safe to say that many of the other above individual competitors joined in for some relay fun.
