The Cook County High School girls’ varsity tennis team traveled to Duluth August 31 to compete against Duluth East and Duluth Denfeld. The Vikings were able to compete with a full squad (10 players) for the first time since the varsity program began last year.

The young and inexperienced Viking team, with eight new players this year, took on a strong Duluth East. The final team score was 7-0 in favor of the Greyhounds.

The Viking girls’ tennis team had a closer match against Duluth Denfeld, losing 4-3.

The goal of this year’s Viking girls’ tennis team is to get a little better each day, and they’re doing that.

The team has a couple of weeks to practice before its next competition against Duluth Denfeld, Wednesday, September 21, 4:00 p.m. at home. This may be the only home tennis match for the girls this season, so come and cheer them on!

Go Vikes!
