The Cook County High School girls’ basketball team is having its finest season ever with an 18-2 overall record, and is 10-2 in the conference.

The biggest reason for this is a suffocating half-court defense that stymies most teams. That great defense has led the team to some amazing stats.

Ashley Deschampe ranks fifth in the conference with a 17.3 scoring average. Brea Boomer ranks seventh with 16.6 points per game and Ailee Larson is 14th with 12.6 points per game.

Overall, the team averages 69.1 points per game. Barnum leads the conference with 79.4 points per game.

Larson leads the team with 5.1 assists per game. Boomer is next with 3 assists while Deschampe and Bekah Laky each average 2.8 assists.

Boomer is one of the top rebounders in the conference and leads the team with 9.4 boards per game. Bekah Laky pulls down 5.4 boards while Theresa Morrin, with 4.2 boards, and Ailee Larson, 4.1 boards, all contribute to a strong rebounding team.

Boomer leads the team in steals with 4.1 take-aways, while Deschampe at 3.4 and Larson at 2.8 thefts keep the ball out of their opponent’s hand much of the game.

Deschampe is the leading free throw shooter with 80.2 pecent average. Larson and Boomer follow with 63.2 pecent and 53.7 pecent.

Boomer leads the team from the field with 54 pecent of her shots falling through the hoop. Morrin is a close second, with 53.7 pecent, while Larson is next with 50.5 pecent, Laky with 49 pecent, Molly Zafft with 46.2 pecent and Deschampe hits 44.6 percent of her shots. Deschampe leads the team in three-point percentage with 43.3 pecent of her long-bombs scoring.
