Viking football players named all-conference





Dylan Quaife (10) deked out this defensive player from Ogilvie as he went on a long run from scrimmage. Quaife, an elusive runner and sure handed receiver, was the best punt returner/kick-off man in the conference and one of the best return men in Cook County history. Quaife was voted the conference's offensive MVP by coaches for the 2011 season.

Quaife was voted the conference’s offensive MVP by coaches for the 2011 season.

Dylan Quaife led Cook County Viking football players in the rush for honors following the Vikings’ 7-2 record and first place finish in the conference. The coaches in the conference selected the players.

Cook County placed six players on the 2011 first team Great Polar Alliance All- Conference Team and Quaife was named the conference’s most valuable offensive player for his prodigious play on the field. Hunter Welinski of Ogilvie was named defensive player of the year.

Vikings named to the first team were Mike Sjogren, Kale Boomer, Peter Warren, Bradley VanDoren, Colin Everson and Justin Goldstein.

Ogilvie placed five players on the allconference team, followed by Barnum and Ely who each placed four players on the first team and East Central with three, Mesabi East with two, and Chisholm with two, filled out the first team selections.

Ben Kroska and Jacob Schroeder earned Honorable Mention accolades.

For the year, Quaife led all receivers with 7 catches for 253 yards and a 36.1- yard game average. Kroska finished 5th in the conference with 6 catches for 124 yards and 20-yard average. Sjogren caught 7 balls for 90 yards for 12.5 yards per game average.

 

 

Four Vikings finished 4th through 7th in touchdowns with 7 each: Quaife, Sjogren, Warren and Everson.

Kale Boomer finished first in passing with 5 touchdowns in 5 games. He passed for 86.4 yards per game for a total of 432 yards.

Viking running backs/quarterbacks finished 7th through 11th in the conference for rushing. Peter Warren finished 7th with a season total of 506 yards for a 72.3 yard per game average. Quaife and Sjogren were right behind Warren with 473 yards for 67.6 yards per game average, and Boomer and Everson were next with 309 yards and 305-yard totals for the season.

On defense VanDoren finished second in quarterback sacks with 5. Gunnar Anderson was 5th with 3 sacks and Justin Goldstein placed 11th in the conference with 2 sacks.

Despite missing a couple of games Boomer finished 5th with 45 tackles, or an average of 9 tackles per game. Everson was 11th with 7 tackles per game and Warren was 13th with 6.7 yards per game.
