It was a night of dominance for the Vikings. They held the ball for 27 minutes on offense and smothered the Lions on defense. All in all the Viking players gained 286 yards on the ground and threw for 48 yards for a total of 334 yards of offense. Meanwhile the defense was extra stingy, holding Ogilvie to 122 yards, but 90 of Ogilvie’s yards came on punt/kick-off returns.
The Vikings scored a touchdown in each quarter. Everson caught a 15-yard TD pass and converted on the extra point to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead. Warren bulled in from 3 yards out in the second quarter to spot the Vikes a 13-0 lead after the extra point try failed. Warren scored from 1 yard out in the third period and Everson, now subbing for Kale at quarterback, threw a 2-point conversion pass to Jacob Schroeder. Everson ended the night scoring on a 5-yard dash into the end zone to give the Vikings a 27-0 lead.
Before going out with a nagging injury, Boomer was 2 for 6 passing for 48 yards while running the ball 5 times for 26 yards.

Everson led the Vikings in tackles with 9, while Peter Warren and Jonny Jacobsen each had 7 tackles, with 5 of Jacobsen’s tackles being unassisted. Kale Boomer, Clay Johnson and Justin Goldstein each had a sack and Thomas Anderson had not one, but two fumble recoveries. Everson and Joe Borud also had tackles that caused a fumble.
Everson ran for 78 yards on his two kickoff returns for a 38-yard average, while Marxen returned 3 kicks for 50 yards, a 16.7 average.
After the game Head Coach Mitch Dorr said, “I thought Thomas Anderson played a great game on both sides of the ball. Jonny Jacobsen was also great on both the offensive and defensive lines.
“We are still battling some key injuries of Kale Boomer and Justin Goldstein, so we’ll see how much they play against Barnum.”
The Vikings face Barnum at home this Friday, September 14. The game starts at 7 p.m.
