Patrick Pierre led the Vikings to victory with his arm and bat last Thursday night.
The Thursday, April 29 game against Northeast Range was close for three innings, but the Vikings managed one run in each of those innings while holding the Nighthawks scoreless to take a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning.
That’s when the Viking bats came alive: Riley Tarver, Patrick Pierre, and Tate Crawford, all had RBIs in the five run fourth inning.
Not letting up, the Vikings offense tallied four more runs in the fifth. The Nighthawks managed two runs in the fourth inning, but otherwise were shut out. As the Vikings won 12-2. The game was called after the fifth inning because of the ten-run rule.
Patrick Pierre was terrific on the mound, giving up one hit, two runs, two walks, while striking out 11 batters.
Jackson Levins took the loss for the Nighthawks. Jackson gave up 12 runs on 11 hits while striking out six.
Pierre was equally adept with his bat, going 3-4 with three RBI’s. Tate Crawford also had a big day at the plate, going 2-3 while driving in four runs and DJ Seidel collected two hits.
The Viking batters recorded 11 hits, 11 RBI’s, four walks and struck out six times.
Both teams committed three errors in the field.
