Viking boys beat Cromwell like a rug





In his fourth year as a starter for the Vikings’ basketball team, Kale Boomer has blossomed into an all-around floor leader. Not only does he distribute the ball well, Kale averages 16 points per game and grabs 8-10 boards per game. He is also one of the team’s top defensive players.

For the second time in two weeks the Cook County High School boys’ basketball team beat the Cromwell Cardinals, but this time it was by nearly 20 points and on the Cardinal’s home court. The score was 62-43. Last time out they were 9 points better then the Cardinals.

The Vikings led all of the way, going into the locker room up 30-18. They outscored Cromwell 32-25 over the second half

Kale Boomer led the Vikings in scoring with 18 points. Colin Everson was below his 22-point average with 14 points, but Lars Scannell hit for a season high (for him) 13 points to take up some of that slack. Jonny Jacobsen hit for 6 points while Trevor Deshampe scored 4 points, Jamie Wick, 3 points, and Justin Goldstein and Peter Warren each had 2 points.

The Vikings’ record is now 7-2 and they are 4-2 in Polar League conference play.

Colin Everson leads the team in scoring with a 22.4 point scoring average, good for second place in the conference behind Esko’s Kory Deadrick’s 23.2- point per game average.

Everson’s back court teammate Kale Boomer is sixth in the conference with a 16-point per game average.

The Vikings play Moose Lake/Willow River at home on Friday, January 18. The game starts at 4:45 p.m.
