On May 25, the Vikings traveled to Soudan for a make-up game against Babbitt Embarrass Soudan Tower (BEST). Dylan Quaife was sent to the mound by the Vikings to take on a very young BEST team. With the Vikings’ bats cold and BEST not doing much on the offensive side, the score was 2 – 2 entering the bottom of the 5th. After a couple of walks and a couple of hits from BEST, the score was 6- 2 in favor of BEST.

In the next couple of innings, neither team was able to produce any more runs, so the game ended 6 – 2 with the Vikings on the short end of the stick.

With the play-offs rolling around, the Vikings had to travel all the way to Remer, Minnesota to take on Northland. Senior Danny Lunde took the mound and pitched a great game. The Vikings’ defense was excellent but their bats were barren. At the end of seven innings the score was 1-1.

Neither team scored any runs in the eighth and the Vikings scored zero in the top of the 9th. With Lunde still on the mound for the Vikes, they looked to bring the game to the 10th inning. But with two outs in the bottom of the 9th and a runner on second for Northland, the batter hit a screamer by Kale Boomer at shortstop, which got through him into left field. The runner rounded third trying to score. Viking left fielder Luke Fenwick grabbed the ball and fired it home, but the runner was safe. After 9 innings, the Vikings’ season came to a close.
