Not even a dramatic “Ruthian” home run by Colin Everson could propel the Vikings to their second win of the season on Saturday, May 21, but Ely had to play a couple of extra innings to get the best of our Vikings. Daniel Lunde and Dylan Quaife shared the mound duties, with Lunde trying to close out the Timberwolves in extra innings. However, despite strong pitching performances from both players, and stellar play in the field, the Vikings lost 5-4 to a tough Ely team.

At the time of the game, Ely sported a 14-8 record.

The Vikings played their first Section 7A game on Wednesday, May 25. Results of that game will be in next week’s Cook County News-Herald.

As Joe Borud looks the ball into his glove he sticks his tongue out at the Ely runner. No, he wasn’t mocking his opponent, it’s a “Michael Jordan” habit. Remember, Jordan also played pro baseball.
