This week, the Cook County YMCA is redeploying our resources to best support the most pressing needs in our community. We are aligning with our city, school district, and community partners to serve parents who must work, including health care workers, first responders, and essential employees who protect our community and its members. We will also work to provide access to healthy snacks for vulnerable youth in our community. Even though the fitness facility is closed, we are still able to offer the following services at this time.
Licensed child care is available for community members and essential emergency workers.
School-age child care is available for community members and essential Emergency Workers March 18-20, and 23-27.
Free two-component snacks for kids are available Monday – Friday right outside the YMCA entrance.
Shower facilities for local residents are available by appointment between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Be sure to bring a valid ID and a towel. Call or email the Y for available times.
In addition, we welcome the community to follow our Cook County YMCA’s Facebook page for updates, resources, and content that will allow you and your family to stay active and engaged during the coming weeks.
To maintain a healthy environment and protect the safety and wellness of community members that are accessing this building, we are taking the following precautions: sanitizing rooms often, sanitizing showers between visitors, washing hands often, providing hand sanitizer to users, disinfecting touch points and supplies multiple times a day, and practicing social distancing in all areas. We are refining and updating these plans daily for various situations and circumstances regarding the spread of the virus as new information becomes available.
We remain committed as ever to the well-being of the communities we serve. Our main phone line is staffed to reply to requests for information. Please call 218-387-3386 x 501 or email info@cookcountyymca.org.
We are all in this together.
