Union members are friends and neighbors

In response to the Gitche Gitche Gumee cartoon in the March 19 issue:

My father was a union member, and he was no thug. A significant portion of the readership of the Herald are public employees and union members, and they are not thugs. In fact, although Carson may consider union members thugs, most of us consider teachers and other public employees neighbors and friends.
