UCare introduces new 2020 Medicare benefits

UCare’s market-leading Medicare Advantage plans will be enhanced with several new benefits in 2020. UCare, a community-based, nonprofit health plan, currently has the highest Medicare Advantage enrollment – over 105,000 members – across Minnesota. The plan also offers EssentiaCare partner plans in Bayfield, Douglas and Washburn counties in Wisconsin.

Every year UCare evaluates opportunities to enrich coverage for members. For 2020, the following new benefits will be added to the all-in-one package of Parts A through D (hospital, medical and prescription drug) coverage available from UCare: Hearing aid coverage from TruHearing; Over-the-counter (OTC) allowance from Healthy Savings; Meal delivery from Mom’s Meals after hospital discharge for members with congestive heart failure (on some plans), and Acupuncture to manage pain for metro Classic plan members with qualifying diagnoses.

“We added these enhancements to improve our members’ experience and support their whole health in meaningful ways,” said Ghita Worcester. “Over the years, members requested these supplemental benefits, and we listened and responded as a member-centered organization.”

UCare offers a robust portfolio of plans for people at every stage of their Medicare journey. Members will have minimal to no premium increases on most UCare Medicare plans in 2020. They will continue to have access to 96 percent of providers, including Mayo, in all plans with the exception of partner plans with Essentia Health, and Fairview and North Memorial Health.
