The Kawishiwi Ranger District of the Superior National Forest has developed a proposal to move vegetation toward desired conditions as described in the Forest Plan by reducing hazardous fuels, conducting forest vegetation, and managing wildlife and other resources in the Hi Lo Project Area. Modified scoping documents for the Hi Lo Project are now available on the Superior National Forest webpage. These documents can be found at www.fs.usda.gov/ project/?project=47208
You are invited to provide site-specific comments on the Modified Proposed Action, which includes a project-specific Forest Plan Amendment to conduct prescribed burning on approximately 1,314 acres within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness under 36 CFR 218. An additional comment period will be held once the draft environmental impact statement (EIS) is complete and comments submitted during that comment period would also provide commenter with the eligibility to object.
Comments should be received by July 10, 2017.
If you have any questions on the Hi Lo Project, feel free to contact Linda Merriman (Project Leader) at 218- 365-2095 or lmerriman@fs.fed.us.
