Two Harbors man injured in ATV accident

A Two Harbors man was injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Grand Portage at about 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22. James Michael Dillon, 39, was riding with friends when he lost control of the ATV he was driving on Store Road.

Other riders did not witness the crash, as Dillon was behind them, but as he was waiting for emergency transport, he told his brother-in-law that he had reached for something and his glove got stuck in the accelerator, causing him to lose control.

Dillon was not wearing a helmet and suffered injuries to the back of his head and his ear. He was transported to Cook County North Shore Hospital by Grand Portage Ambulance. He was then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was treated and has been released.

A Cook County Sheriff Deputy investigated. A citation was issued to Dillon for driving without a valid license.
