Not everyone has the time and money for a trip to Duluth to purchase a dress to be worn only once. And many people hate the traditional shopping scene. Recognizing this, a group of Cook County residents have organized a Prom Dress Swap on not just one day, but two. Instead of letting lovely dresses languish in closets, they are being offered to others at two dress swap events on Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Bay Suites community room.
Organizer Courtney Quaife said there are many beautiful dresses in all sizes, as well as some shoes and jewelry, available on a first come, first serve basis. Many of the dresses are brand-new with tags.
The cost to participate is just $5, or free if you bring in another dress in good condition to trade. There will be light refreshments. “Join us for a relaxing and fun afternoon,” said Quaife.
