The community is gearing up for the second annual Cook County Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center. At press time, there were 20 different teams!
If you would like to take part in the chili contest to try to take the traveling trophy away from last year’s winners— Colin Everson, Will Petty, Seth Falk and Jacob Rude—give Jamie Ryan a call at (218) 370-0262 for more information.
If you don’t want to cook, mark your calendar for an afternoon of fantastic chili sampling, including one special selection cooked up by the Cook County News-Herald’s own, Publisher Hal Kettunen.
The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under, and children 2 and under are free. It’s all you can eat and everyone gets to vote for his or her favorite chili to be selected to receive the “People’s Choice” award.
The proceeds of the event will be divided between the Cook County Food Shelf and the Feed My Starving Children program.
