As of Thursday, Feb. 3, middle school students have the opportunity to get extra help on their school work after school. KIDS Plus, Community Education, Cook County Extension, ISD 166 and Americorp are collaborating to create a tutoring program open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
The program will be held Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the Community Education small conference room. The focus of the tutoring will be to assist youth in building confidence and skills in their school work. Students should be at the room by 3:20 and are required to participate for a minimum of 45 minutes. Parents are required to pick up their child unless otherwise arranged with Katy or Ilena.
Katy Campbell and Ilena Berg will be the lead facilitators. They are looking for individuals to give two hours of their time to tutor youth once a week. It is a great opportunity to work with youth and to help support them in their education. Training will be provided for all volunteers. We are excited for this opportunity to help support the local school systems, families and youth. For more information, contact (218) 387-2271 for Ilena Berg at ext. 331 or Katy Campbell at ext. 643.
