Training available for companies moving products out of gypsy moth quarantine counties

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is hosting a series of trainings throughout northern Minnesota for loggers and transport operators moving select items out of Lake and Cook counties. The two counties are under quarantine for gypsy moth, and a special permit, called a Limited Permit, is needed to move wood products out of the quarantine area to an approved facility.

The transportation of pulpwood, sawbolts and bark (used for fuel) requires a Limited Permit. A business representative must attend a training each year for the company to receive a Limited Permit. Permits expire annually on April 30.

On April 8, 2020 there will be a training session that starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais.

On April 9, a training session will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake County Highway Department, 1513 MN Hwy 2, Two Harbors.

Area haulers can also attend the April 14-15 training at the Minnesota Logger Education Program (MLEP) Conference in the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) located at 350 Harbor Drive, Duluth. Call for the time of the training.

No preregistration is required to attend a training. Questions can be directed to Deborah Davis Hudak at 218-243-2058 or Deborah.Davis. Hudak@state.mn.us.
