The Arrowhead Coalition for Multiple Use (ACMU) is seeking volunteers to help complete the South Fowl Snowmobile Trail Access between McFarland and South Fowl lakes in the Hovland area. This new trail restores the historic connection between the two lakes for anglers, cabin owners and winter campers.
A great deal of work has been completed by U.S. Forest Service personnel, Minnesota Conservation Corps workers, Grand Portage Trust Lands staff and ACMU volunteers, but a final push is now on to get the trail ready for use this coming winter.
Volunteers are needed immediately to clear downed trees and brush. The U.S. Forest Service will need assistance shoveling/moving rock on sections of the trail after September 21. These activities will reduce erosion and create a safer snowmobile trail and a more sustainable tread.
Workers can choose their own hours and work individually or with a group
Don’t miss this opportunity to help maintain a valuable local recreational resource. Contact ACMU for more information at (218) 387-9844 or email dgreeley0@gmail.com.
