Registered nurses, home health and personal care aide workers, retail sales people, stockers and order fillers and first-line supervisors of retail sales workers are the top five positions employers are looking to fill in the state of Minnesota.
Last week the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) listed the top 30 jobs now in demand in Minnesota.
“Many of the jobs most in demand now are in fields with a significant potential for career growth,” said DEED Commissioner Steve Grove. “For example, entry-level positions in health care and manufacturing offer a path up to well-paying, family sustaining careers as a person gains experience and training. And in many cases, employers provide on-the-job training to help dedicated employees grow in their careers.”
The updated list has a range of wages, both hourly and salary, and a short job description for each position. Many of the jobs require a high school diploma or two-year associate degree or one to two years of technical (trade) school.
Along with the job update, DEED said people out of work now might want to consider exploring a change to an in-demand job on a career path with projected strong employment growth into the future. Many health care occupations fit this description and often leverage transferable skills from other fields, including hospitality. View DEED’s new transferable skills fact sheet that highlights career path opportunities in health care that build on skills earned through work in restaurants and other hospitality fields.
