A Grand Marais business has been nominated for a Joel Labovitz Entrepreneurial Success Award.

Dockside Fish Market owners Shelé and Harley Toftey have been nominated in the “Established Entrepreneur” category. They have owned and operated the downtown business since June 1998.

Asked how it feels to be nominated, Shelé Toftey said, “Looking at the other nominees, it is really an honor.”

Shelé said she did not know who nominated Dockside for the award.

The UMD Center for Economic Development (CED) presents the awards annually in recognition of the entrepreneurs and business owners from throughout the Twin Ports and northeastern Minnesota. The award categories include Micro Entrepreneur, Emerging Entrepreneur, Established Entrepreneur, Mature Entrepreneur and Innovation. Twenty-nine entrepreneurs and business owners will be recognized for these awards.

“This is the only regional awards ceremony that honors entrepreneurs who contribute so much to our economy and our communities. It is also an excellent opportunity to network with business and community leaders,” says Elaine Hansen, director of UMD CED.

Winners will be announced at the 18th annual luncheon held April 21 at the DECC.
