Ice skaters of all ages will be happy to note that the rink at Birch Grove community center is open and ready for skaters. The outdoor rink is open and lit daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Skates can be borrowed and returned to the shelf in the warming house when you are done with them. A donation box can be found inside the warming house and donations are appreciated to help pay for skates and the maintenance of the rink.
Of further interest, there is a new group forming called the Tofte Pickup Hockey Game (for adults). There is a kid skating portion as well. The event is held every Wednesday at the ice rink at Birch Grove – the kids can skate anytime (with adult supervision) from 3:15 p.m. until it gets dark. Once it’s dark and the kids have worn themselves out, it’s time for the adults to play!
The warming hut and bathroom are open and there are used skates to borrow in the hut if you need them. The rink lights go on at dusk. A BBQ grill is fired up and available for use. For more information, you can check out the group Tofte Pickup Hockey Game on Facebook, call 218-235- 8600, or just show up and see what it’s all about!
