After a year off the Tofte 4th of July parade came back in a big way. Although it was smaller than usual, it had plenty of firetrucks and floats, marchers and merrymakers, fancy cars and cool trucks decorated and shined up for the throngs of viewers—estimated at more than 1,000– who came from places near and far to take it all in.
The live music was performed by a Cook County’s Most Wanted; a collection of locals who sounded tremendous. Lead singer Gary Croft’ s voice was as great as ever.
The local food vendors were extremely busy. Long lines gathered for the Lutsen Volunteer Fire Department Fish Stand, Zoar Lutheran Church food stand and Double D’s. The day ended with awards for best floats and fireworks capped off the evening.
Editor’s note: The firework pictures, above, were taken in Grand Marais by David Johnson.
