On Sunday afternoon August 22 a large gathering came to Tofte park to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this lovely place by the shores of Lake Superior. Sarah Somnis a Tofte Township Supervisor along with board members Craig Horak and Sam Crowley invited the community to share in a dinner catered by Double D. Three years ago the old covered picnic shelter was replaced with a timber frame roof and a children’s play area was added recently to the grounds. One hundred years later the park is part of the North Shore Fishing Museum lake walk into the park. Along with amenities of picnic tables, charcoal grill, boat ramp & benches this becomes a gathering place to relax & remember the gift of land from the John Tofte family, especially Elizabeth.
