Todd Shaw Wilson of Moab, UT, Telluride, Colorado, and Grand Marais, Minnesota, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, on March 4, 2020.
Todd was born on October 7, 1959 in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota to Charles and Audrey Wilson. Todd is survived by his son Theo Bray of Wellington, New Zealand, his brother Andrew and his many friends all over the world.
Todd loved to travel and spend time in Switzerland with his second family, the Schmidlins. As a young man he went to school there and learned to speak fluent German. He enjoyed skiing, playing tennis and racing bikes with his Swiss family. He remained close to the Schmidlins and visited Switzerland whenever he had the chance.
Todd was a seasoned pilot, learning to fly as a little boy sitting on his father’s lap. He flew airplanes all over the world, built runways and a hangar on Hastings Mesa and was constantly looking up, dreaming of airplanes. He was working at Red Tail Air in Moab up until his death.
Todd was a true athlete. He was a champion rower, winning two Swiss National Championship titles, an avid downhill and cross country skier and a lover of the outdoors. Todd loved classic cars, old bikes, dramatic weather and big views. He enjoyed sharing a good meal and stories with his friends. He said hello to every dog he passed on the street and made friends wherever he went. His mind was willful even when his body could not keep up.
