To the moon and back

“I love you to the moon and back” is a favorite line from the classic children’s book Guess How Much I Love You. I must have read this book 500 times to my three children over the years.

We moms love our children more than anything but when you realize that the distance to the moon and back is 477,800 miles that is almost an entire year of constant driving at 55 miles per hour…. in other words a whole lotta love!

In lieu of driving for 361 days I should say I love you a marathon…. 26.2 miles seems more reasonable, although I would drive it…running is not my thing.

I started thinking more about this fascinating moon of ours when I was Christmas shopping for my kids…did you know that you can legally buy an acre of land on the moon? Yes for $29.95 you will own an acre of land complete with a Lunar Deed and a map …for another $10 your name will be printed on the deed… ha-ha…if this all seems on the up and up to you I can also point you to an agent that will sell you land on Pluto as well. It’s a little farther away but with more privacy and a better view. Good luck with that plane ticket!

My favorite idea about the moon is from Wallace and Gromit…. the Claymation characters that believe the moon is magically made of cheese…. can you imagine a better place? Piles of creamy Havarti, gooey mozzarella, baked Brie, yummy deep-fried cheese curds, rivers of alfredo sauce and mountains made of caramelized onion cheddar. It would be the Willy Wonka of cheese land! Just remember to bring the crackers.

That’s it Gromit! Cheese! We’ll go somewhere where there is cheese! Everybody knows the moon is made of cheese!
